Earlier this month, Soulja Boy took to social media to share that he had signed a $400 million deal, writing on Twitter, "$400 million deal confirmed. I still they think they low balled me though. I was thinking 2 or 3 billion." Details regarding the deal or the nature of it were undisclosed, but on Wednesday (May 11) a separate post to Soulja's Instagram may have clarified some of the mystery.

"I'm in the fam," the rapper wrote, tagging Alki David, the founder of online streaming site FilmOn. David himself likewise shared the news on Instagram. If the name FilmOn rings any bells, that's because it's the same label that signed Chief Keef, suspended him in November of 2015 and sued several of his associates a month later. At the crux of the issue was the fact that Keef was releasing projects, namely Finally Rollin 2 and Nobody Part 2, without looping in his label, a big problem considering the 360 deal he signed. FilmOn filed a $4 million lawsuit against Keef's associates including his manager Peeda Pan, producers Zaytoven, Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital and DJ Holiday, who they believe influenced Keef to break the deal.

While it seems unlikely that FilmOn was the sole source of Soulja's aforementioned $400 million deal, they at least represent some portion of his new financial status. Word last month was that Soulja was planning to drop a mixtape with Lil Yachty and Lil B, what Yachty referred to as Pretty Boy Millionaires 2 in an interview with V Files. If Soulja's deal with FilmOn is as inclusive as Chief Keef's, then he won't be able to do any side projects or one-off collaborations without first involving his label. We will update this story if such details become available in the near future.
