The 2016 Met Gala took place Monday night (May 2) and while Kanye West may have caused eye to pop with his colored contacts, inside, The Weeknd brought out Nas to perform a new remix to his song "Tell Your Friends." Nas adopts The Weeknd's trademark depravity on his verse, offering up a strange contrast to his to 2012 track "Daughters."

Opening his verse, Nas raps, "42 but I fuck ‘em like I'm 22 / Mackin and hanging, that’s all I do / I been through aunties and mamas, now it’s they daughter turn / I done ran through money, but I got more to burn." Later on, he pairs that sexual tone with the spiritual-mindedness that fans are more accustomed to, as he raps, "Spiritual chakras, frequency / I’m a holistic doctor, treatments frequently / Put her on an elevator to a higher self / Like minded combos, to acquire wealth."

It's been nearly four years since Nas dropped Life Is Good, and his appearance on the Met Gala stage offers more evidence that he's making a musical reemergence. Esco was a key feature in the recently released posthumous J. Dilla album, starring in the video for "The Sickness" alongside the late producer.

In addition, Baz Lurhmann recently revealed that Nas has been a heavy creative influence on his upcoming Netflix series "The Get Down." For a rapper as accomplished and esteemed as Nas, albums don't typically follow one another in conventional succession or form, so it will be interesting to see where he takes his next project.
