J. Cole had a great 2015. Billboard's new list analyzing the highest paid musicians of 2015 revealed that J. Cole was the highest paid rapper of the calendar year. The North Carolina rhymer, who was No. 27 on the overall list, earned an impressive $8.8 million in total revenue.

For a more detailed breakdown, Billboard also looked at how J. Cole earned that total. The "Wet Dreamz" rapper had an incredible year on the road as he made $5.5 million off touring alone. J. Cole racked up $1.5 million in album sales and $788,000 in revenue from streaming.

J. Cole also earned $1.1 million in publishing. The 2014 Forest Hills Drive MC was one of just eight artists on the list to gross more than $1 million in publishing.

Drake and Nicki Minaj were the only other rappers to crack the top 40 of Billboard's highest paid musicians list. Drake landed at the No. 32 spot after earning $7.4 million last year while Nicki Minaj attained the No. 39 spot with $6.3 million in total revenue.

Considering how much J. Cole earned from touring in 2015, it is no surprise that the North Carolina rapper is staying busy on the road in 2016 too. The Dreamville Records boss just graced the stage at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival last month and has more festival performances on the way.

J. Cole is currently scheduled to be one of the headliners for the 2016 Bonnaroo Festival in June before heading over to the United Kingdom to be part of the Wireless Festival in London. J. Cole will cap off his summer festival dates with a performance at the 2016 Lollapalooza Festival in July.
