Today, May 25, is the birthday of Long Beach, Calif. rapper/producer and Dogg Pound member Daz Dillinger. Daz is now 45.

As the cousin of Snoop Dogg, Daz was bound to be a part of the G-funk rap movement. Born Delmar Drew Arnaud, the artist started off his career going by Dat Nigga Daz before switching over to Daz Dillinger when he began working on Death Row Records. As a producer, Daz has had a hand in the makings of iconic West Coast albums like Dr. Dre's The Chronic, 2Pac's All Eyez on Me and Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle. Daz is credited as have helped produce 'Pac's chart-topping single "California Love." That means we have Daz Dilly to partially thank for spreading the G-funk sound.

Daz and Kurupt formed Tha Dogg Pound for Snoop's debut album Doggystyle in 1992. Together, the duo dropped seven albums starting with 1995's Dogg Food. As a solo artist, Daz dropped his debut album under Death Row, Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back in 1998 before being one of the last artists to leave the label.

To this day, Dilly has dropped 16 solo albums, with his 17th, RRGB 2, due out this year. Not one to forget about his family ties, Daz and Snoop dropped their Cuzznz album in October 2016.

Aside from music, Daz is working restlessly to get Tha Dogg Pound biopic going in the wake of the successful N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton in 2015. According to TMZ, Dillinger put together a cast and shot a scene depicting 2Pac’s sessions for “Ambitionz az a Ridah” and “I Ain’t Mad Atcha.” Azad Arnaud is reportedly playing Daz.

Movie stuff aside, Daz is still doing music in a major way. In February 2018, he dropped off his latest album, Dazamataz. Here's to hoping he never puts his mic down.

Happy Birthday, Daz Dillinger!
