With the NBA Finals looming, each of the Eastern and Western Conference Finals past their midway point, The Roots revealed that their new track "Champion" will soundtrack the Finals once it gets started on June 2nd. The song has already appeared on various TV spots, with the legendary crew pictured alongside iconic Finals moments as they happen.

The track is an uplifting ode to the heart and champion spirit, but speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the premier of Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Questlove revealed that for group MC Black Thought, the work isn't over. "He has the hardest job because we went a mile further by accident. It was like, ‘You know what? We could customize the lyrics for every game.’" he said. "So literally, for the next two weeks, Tariq will be in the studio at 3 in the morning giving a recap or the intro for what happened at that night’s game."

Thought has had experience recapping in the past, as he did just that on The Tonight Show with a recent episode of Game of Thrones.

Quest also shared how the opportunity for the group came about, saying that after the league had used their song "The Fire" for many years, they offered to produce an original. And as for his own basketball rooting interests, the drummer and band leader said that he is still a Philadelphia 76ers fan and worries the team might mess up this year's first overall pick in the draft. Quest is featured in Popstar alongside Nas, RZA and A$AP Rocky.
