The 2016 Billboard Music Awards have arrived. Hip-hop heavyweights showed up at The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas Sunday night (May 22) with hopes of some big wins in categories from Top Hot 100 Artist to Top Hot 100 Song and more.

The Weeknd leads all artists with 19 nominees in 16 categories, walking away the night's top earner with eight awards wins. He scored the Top R&B Album and Top Hot 100 Artist award, among others. The singer, who dropped his sophomore album, Beauty Behind the Madness, last year, dedicated the award to the “late great” Prince. The Purple One presented The Weeknd with the award for best soul/R&B album at the 2015 American Music Awards.

“It was the greatest experience of my entire life,” "The Hills" crooner said. “I didn’t know him, but he was very close to me, and he will always be an inspiration and help me push the envelope.”

Wiz Khalifa walked away with two awards, landing the Top Hot 100 Song and Top Rap Song for his smash "See You Again" with Charlie Puth. Meek Mill surprised many rap fans when he bested Drake'sIf You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Future and Drizzy's collabo effort What a Time to Be Alive, Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly and Dr. Dre's Compton for Top Rap Album with his Dreams Worth More Than Money LP.
