Darryl of Run-D.M.C. Says Prince Predicted Their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

While the late great Prince's known long list of talents include, singer, song writer, producer, composer, instrumentalist, talent scout, shade king and panty dropper, we might be able to add fortune teller to the tally. According to Darryl of the ground-breaking rap group Run-D.M.C., the rock star predicted they would make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 20 years ago.

TMZ recently caught up with the DMC coming through the airport, and when the topic of Prince came up, the rap OG had fond memories about the Purple One.

"Put it like this," he said, "when Prince came out with Purple Rain, [he] had the hood on lock. He was a funny looking dude in a purple suit [but] his music totally smashed the hood. I'm in Hollis, Queens and Raising Hell is out and everybody is talking about Prince more than they are talking about Raising Hell. That's powerful."

He went on to talk about the Minnesota legend predicting their future in John F. Kennedy airport. McDaniels detailed a story about how the group and Prince would cross paths in the airport all the time. Around the fifth time it happened was in 1986 when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had just started. "Prince just looked over at me, Run and Jay and said, 'You guys are going to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame one day' and kept walking," said D. "Me, Run and Jay looked at him like what the fuck did he just say?

Thirteen years later, Prince's prediction would come true as the trio was inducted into the Hall back in 2009, becoming only the second rap act to do so.
