The 2016 presidential campaign in America is heating up and it's getting down to the wire in choosing a candidate for each party. Rappers have been unapologetically outspoken about their political choices this year. While some MCs like Azealia Banks are backing Republican candidate Donald Trump and others like Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent are opting to endorse Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, many hip-hop stars are getting out the vote for Democratic nominee and junior Vermont State Senator, Bernie Sanders.

At 74 years old, Sanders is technically listed as an independent and is the longest-serving independent in the nation's congressional history. The Brooklyn-born politician settled in Vermont with his family and became the mayor of Burlington, a position he served in for nine years from 1981 to 1989. In 1990, Sanders was elected to rep the Green Mountain State in the U.S. House of Representatives and then moved to Congressional Progressive Caucus. Bernie became a U.S. Congressman in 2006, and served in that position until he started his campaign run in 2015.

Despite being the oldest candidate up for the running, through his campaigning, Sanders has done a good job of embedding himself in pop culture. He's danced to Drake's "Hotline Bling" in a parody video, held barbershop talk with Killer Mike and recently introduced rap duo Run The Jewels via satellite at Coachella 2016. The man is running on platforms of legalizing marijuana, raising the minimum wage, expanding Social Security benefits, and advocating for pro-choice and LBGTQ rights.

As Election Day draws near, here are the faces in hip-hop who are definitely feeling the Bern. Are you? Check out the rappers who've endorsed Bernie Sanders above.
