Friends, family and fans are gathering at the historic Apollo Theater tonight (April 5) to celebrate the life and legacy of the late, great Phife Dawg. You can stream the event above. His new single "Nutshell" produced by Dilla is said to be premiering at the end of the service, complete with a video.

Phife's death was announced late on the night of March 23. A following statement from his family said he passed away from complications with diabetes, which he'd struggled with for many years. A statement from Tribe Called Quest said the group was "devastated" by the news.

Q-Tip broke his silence about the situation on Twitter earlier this week, launching into a long heartfelt speech about his feelings regarding the passing of Phife. “I miss my lil brotha so much right now…He is my hero,” he tweeted. “I’ve never seen such a fighter. I’m sure u have been through this as well but know that in death there is signs and gifts abound. He left me with the gift of unconditional love and brotherhood. That will NEVER be lost with me…Ever. I take comfort in knowing that divine order is certain…I take pride in having the blessing knowing and having Malik in my life.”
