Among the more formidable MC's coming out of Chicago is Mick Jenkins, who will look to make a major splash this year with his debut album The Healing Component. There isn't yet a release date for the project, but in an Instagram post published on Tuesday (April 26), Jenkins offered a huge update on the album, saying that it's finished.

"I'm done. [wit the album]" he wrote below a picture of himself. Recent music has shown Mick at his mightiest on the mic, bodying his verse on CGB's "Test Me" and slashing and corkscrewing through a Kaytranda beat on "The Artful Dodger."

Back in August, Jenkins spoke to Exclaim about the album, saying, "The Healing Component itself is love, brotherly love. Agape. In its purest form what Christ was able to show us, right? And a lot of the world's problems could be solved with love. That sounds like a really cheesy simple answer — and it's never that simple — but that's what I intend to explain on that album and Wave[s] coming right before that. Not only was I inspired by actual love, but I just felt it necessary to get that in there somewhere, have people wonder why I'm talking about it and when The Healing Component comes out, watch it come full circle."

The Healing Component is expected to drop sometime this summer, and a completed work likely means singles and videos rolling out soon.
