Joey Badass stopped by Power 106's The Cruz Show and stepped up to challenge for a freestyle. The Brooklyn rhymer got to tackle some classic West Coast beats as he spit over Westside Connection's "Bow Down," Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's "Deep Cover" and Kurupt's "Calling Out Names." Joey seemed to find his groove when the Dre beat came up during this freestyle session.

"N---as pop shit all the time/Me, I don't trip cause they know I'm never lying/In between the lines feel like Ali in his prime/A salaam alaikum, alaikum salaam/Peace to my slimes, peace to my Crips/Neighborhood police and they always on the shift/Protect my Bloods, watch out for my cuz/When it's all said and done, we be the realest that there was," Joey Badass rapped over the "Deep Cover" instrumental.

Joey Badass is fresh off a performance at the 2016 Coachella Festival. During the first weekend of the festival, the Pro Era rapper debuted a new song called "Devastated" for the live crowd.

While much of the news around Joey Badass has centered around his beef with Troy Ave, the "Big Dusty" MC recently revealed an interesting reason for turning down a deal with Roc Nation. Joey told DJ Whoo Kid that readin about Jay Z's own action in Decoded stopped him from signing.

"His only thought was ‘Damn I don’t want to be signed to this n---a, I wanna be this n---a.' I kinda had that same perspective," Joey Badass said, comparing himself to Jay Z turning down a deal from Russell Simmons. "But shout out to Jay, man, cause he was on it before a lot of people."
