DJ Quik Calls Kanye West a Kardashian, Says ‘Life of Pablo’ Isn’t That Great

Hate it or love it, Kanye West's The Life of Pablo continues to drum up conversation within the hip-hop world, with DJ Quik paying a recent visit to NoahTV and offering up his own opinion on West's latest and the seemingly slap dash rollout it received. In the above clip, Quik speaks on his EP Rosecrans with Problem (which is out on iTunes now), then transitions into Kanye and Pablo talk.

"It’s just an EP," he says of Rosecrans. "Who does an EP anymore? Who puts out records anymore? Kanye so scared he don’t know what to do with The Life of Pablo." Quik is likely referring to the will-he, won't-he uncertainty that surrounded Kanye's seventh album as it lived exclusively on Tidal. Kanye had said that he didn't want physical copies pressed, and continues to tinker with the project.

As Quik discusses the album, he asks if the music lives up to the hype surrounding it, which the room answers with a no. "So his celebrity supersedes his talent right now? Yes," he says in response. "C’mon, he’s a Kardashian now, what the fuck? What he gonna do to me? Beat me up? It’s Kanye. This is a challenge, this ain’t a diss, it’s just a challenge. Make your best music. Because fans aren’t stupid."
