Earlier this week, Compton's DJ Quik made waves when he publicly criticized Kanye West's latest album, The Life of Pablo.

"His celebrity supersedes his talent right now" said DJ Quik on Noah TV while he promoted his new EP with Problem called Rosecrans (available on iTunes now). Quik also dropped some especially vicious insults including saying that 'Ye is perhaps "too busy in Kim Kardashian's vagina" to make quality music. Harsh.

While he stood by his points, Quik decided to appear on TMZ Live yesterday (April 21) to clarify some of his words.

"This is just a challenge. This is the music business," he said when questioned by TMZ's Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere. "We love good music and just lately, you know, his music hasn't been lighting my fire. And I'm a fan."

Quik went on to explain in a much more mild-mannered way that the album's rollout, marketing and repeated delays because of production changes made TLOP's February release a failure in his mind. "I expected something better with all the hype that was behind it...whatever the backlash is, I'm just being honest. I gotta be true to myself."

And even though Quik was extremely candid with his words, this isn't the first time Quik has gone in on Kanye. Back in March of this year, Quik went on a bazard mini-rant on Twitter about Yeezy, specifically for Kanye getting credited for bringing El De Barge back when he did it first. Check his tweets.
