Digable Planets are reuniting for a summer tour. The trio of Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mary Ann "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira, and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving announced that they will hit the road this summer for a tour of the United States.

The Brooklyn group previously reunited this past December when they performed in Seattle on New Year's Eve. Brooklyn Vegan reported that Ladybug Mecca hinted at the idea that this show would not be one-off reunion.

Digable Planets made their mark in the early 90s with their 1993 debut album Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space). The album featured the crossover single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" which has been used in television shows and ad campaigns over 20 years since its release. The group's second and final album Blowout Comb would be released in 1994. In 1995 we saw the Digable Planets split up over creative differences.

The trio reunited in 2005 and performed together sporadically over the next six years. The reunion seemingly ended in 2012 when a planned show was cancelled. Ishmael Butler, whose career had been rejuvenated through his work with Shabazz Palaces, said "I think it's the end." Luckily for fans, that was not the case.
