Chris Brown is opening up like never before. In the preview for a new documentary about the singer's life, one of the most successful acts in pop music comes clean about one of the darkest moments in his career - the night he assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna.

In the trailer for Brown's Welcome To My Life, big name stars like DJ Khaled, Usher and Jennifer Lopez are seen praising Brown's talent and showmanship. But things take a turn when the topic shifts to the infamous night.

It was the night before the 2009 Grammys, Feb. 8, that will go down in hip-hop infamy. Chris and Rihanna were leaving a pre-Grammys party when the two got in an argument that turned physical. Brown assaulted Ri so badly, she ended up in the hospital with visible bruises and cuts on her face. The incident caused a media firestorm and Brown's image of "America's sweetheart" was immediately tarnished. The platinum-selling singer lost endorsement deals, suffered a decline in concert ticket sales and was shunned by much of the industry for quite some time. But despite the business blows, Brown says in the documentary that the emotional cost of the ordeal was far heavier to bare.

“I felt like a fucking monster,” Brown admits in the trailer. “I was thinking about suicide and everything else. I wasn’t sleeping, I wasn’t eating. I just was getting high.”

“That was the worst day of my life and probably his life,” adds Browns mother, Joyce Hawkins.

This is the first time in seven years fans are hearing Brown's side of the story in such a candid manner. Back in 2012, Rihanna had a famous sit down with Oprah, telling the world she forgave Brown and calling him the love of her life.

No official release date has been set for the doc as of yet, but judging from the material in the trailer, this one will be a must-see for Breezy fans.
