Update:

Thug's manager Amina Diop tells Fader that Thugger visited Elton John's crib in Atlanta to play him his new version of "Rocket Man." Though the song is "inspired" by Elton, it won't appear on this Friday's Slime Season 3.

"Elton John is super humble and he's a real music lover, so it was dope to see him communicate his appreciation for new generation of music," said Diop. She also added that John told Thug he has "a great voice."

Original Story:

Here's a strange meeting of the minds. Young Thug and Elton John hung out today, and the Instagram pics above and below are proof. Best friends? Maybe. Collaboration? A lot more likely, it seems.

Weeks back, reports began to surface that Thugger and Elton had a collab on the way. According to Fader, a FaceTime session was arranged between the ATLien and Elton. They spoke, and after Elton apparently sent the instrumental for his hit song "Rocket Man" to Thug's team. Thug allegedly recorded over it, and now the world is waiting to hear the final result.

It's no surprise that these two are collaborating, though. Last year Elton John said he was a fan of Thugger's work. “I love that record!” Elton exclaimed, possibly about “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” the single from Jamie xx’s In Colour that features Thug and the dancehall star Popcaan. “I actually asked [Universal Music CEO] David Joseph about it. I heard a track on Beats 1 and I loved it so much. But he’s got himself into trouble, hasn’t he?”

2016 is Thug's make or break year. He started off with the I'm Up EP in February and will follow that up with Slime Season 3 this Friday (March 25) and plans to go on his HiTunes tour after that. Then, presumably, the HiTunes album.

If you missed Thugger's bizarrely awesome announcement video for the HiTunes tour, catch that below, and if you didn't see his funeral procession for SS3, it's a must-watch. The marketing on point and that merch is looking tight too - even Elton is rocking it.
