Prodigy has settled his lawsuit with Universal Music Publishing Group in a unique way. TMZ reports that the Mobb Deep member will be paid $153,751.21 on the condition that he tweeted the following sentences: "My dispute with UMPG was all a misunderstanding. Thankful that we resolved it quickly and happy to be continuing my long-standing relationship with UMPG."

Earlier today (March 1), Prodigy did just that. His official Twitter account made two posts with those exact words. Both tweets have since been deleted, so the status of Prodigy's payout has become a bit murkier.

Last November, Prodigy sued Universal Music Publishing Group for back royalties as the company had allegedly been taking 50% of all his work under a Mobb Deep deal that was signed in 1995. This included Prodigy's solo recordings, which were not covered by the deal. Prodigy spoke to XXL about the lawsuit not long after it was filed and said the company was also using his music without permission.

"It’s going all the way to back then and we found out that they were doing things without our signatures, without permission," Prodigy said. "There was a lot of movies and TV shows and stuff like using Mobb Deep’s music and my music and we found out that they were doing a lot of stuff without permission, so now it’s time to pay up."

Prodigy told XXL that Universal Music Publishing Group owed him well into the seven figures, so the settlement makes sense from the company's side. Now it's a question of whether Prodigy's deleted tweets live up to his side of the deal.

XXL reached out to Prodigy's rep for comment but they declined.
