Kendrick Lamar is back at it again! Less than a year after dropping his masterpiece sophomore album, To Pimp A Butterfly, the Compton rapper surprised the Internet once again last night (Mar. 3) by dropping a surprise project, 'untitled unmastered.' The 8-track offering became available on Spotify and iTunes around 11:30 PM EST and quickly sent the hip-hop world into a frenzy. Like the project title implies, each song appears in its bare form, without a dedicated song name and likely unmastered. The songs were recorded between 2013, and 2016 and appear to be leftovers from his 2015 album.

Embodying a similar woozy, funk-infused feeling as TPAB, Kendrick once again is redefining the genre he's dominating. Rappers like Curren$y and Bodega Bamz have commended K. Dot's new project, calling it a "perfect display of originality and fearlessness." And fans of the TDE star are praising the new material. When the hype of the project was at it's peak during last night's drop, XXL asked Twitter to describe their initial reaction to the project by only using three words. With varied and hilarious results, some social media users praised Kendrick as the king of rap. Some fans couldn't even find the words so instead answers in meme-form. Perfectly acceptable. There were even J. Cole and Young Thug fans who popped out of the Internet woodwork to get their three cents in. Check out how fans are taking in Kendrick's surprise so far.
