Tuesday (Mar. 1) was a big day for Foxy Brown, as the Brooklyn native became the latest figure in hip-hop to receive the key to her city. Brown commemorated the occasion with an Instagram post showing the key as well as a citation from the Office of the President of the borough of Brooklyn declaring Inga "Foxy Brown" Marchand as a key recipient. While the text on the citation isn't entirely legible, it does appear that the key was gifted one day prior, on Feb. 29.

"Wow!!!!!!!!," Brown wrote in the photo's caption, "Only ONE Chick Alone Got The 'KEY' To Her Home #BROOKLYN It's OFFICIAL! BK Is #MINE!" It isn't immediately clear why Foxy was given the key now, as the rapper has been relatively dormant lately, her last release coming in the form of the 2008 mixtape Brooklyn Don Diva. What's more, Foxy hasn't even appeared on a track in years, her last appearance coming on "Murda Mami" off Rick Ross's 2009 album Deeper Than Rap. Either way, Foxy's contributions to the game are plentiful, and XXL shares in her excitement for the honor.

Less than three weeks ago, Kendrick Lamar similarly received the key to Compton, getting the honor from Mayor Aja Brown at the Martin Luther King Monument at Civic Center Plaza. “Kendrick Lamar is one of Compton’s greatest ambassadors,” said City Councilwoman Janna Zurita. “We in Compton are proud of him because he is a symbol of what our city really is — a place where dreams can come true.” And just a day prior, Drake received the key to Toronto for his continued work with the Raptors and the city.
