Thanks God for second chances. The Weeknd made an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon last night (Feb. 19) as the musical guest and the Canadian crooner brought along a friend. Ms. Lauryn Hill hit the stage with Abel, along her background singers, to perform the song "In The Night" off his Grammy-winning album The Beauty Behind the Madness.

This appears to be the performance we should have seen at the 2016 Grammy Awards. As previously reported, Hill was scheduled to perform alongside the XO crooner during the prestigious awards show, but the act was cancelled somewhat at the last minute because it was never confirmed or authorized.

Hill's team later released a statement addressing her no-show which read: “The Grammys announced a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill prematurely and without approval. Ms. Hill had concerts all weekend, leaving no time to prepare, and was uncertain she would even be able to make it to LA in time to rehearse for the event. Any performance that could have happened was never confirmed, and should not have been advertised as such. Ms. Hill was invited to do a collaboration with an artist she appreciates. The performance was intended to be a surprise and unfortunately due to its last minute nature, was unable to come to fruition.”

Despite the hiccup, it was a great night for The Weeknd who came home with two golden gramophones in the categories of Best R&B Performance and Best Urban Contemporary album.
