Hip-hop may not be known as the most romantic genre in music, but it's helped produce some of the biggest and most memorable love tunes that date back all the way to the late '80s. With another Valentine's Day just a day away, XXL looks back at some of the most romantic hip-hop videos of all time.

Dating back to the days of LL Cool J, hip-hop artists have shown a romantic side to them by creating singles catered to a special loved one or the beauty of women. Setting the tone in 1987 with his smash hit "I Need Love," LL Cool J was able to show a softer side of rap through his lyrics and his visual for the song. With the song landing on the Billboard charts and the video on heavy demand, Cool J was able to carve a line of his own with his hip-hop love ballad.

Learning and inspired by the LL Cool J's formula of meshing love and hip-hop, the biggest rappers in the genre have taken a crack at making a love song or two including Jay Z, Fabolous Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent and more. Proving that formula of love rap songs and videos still work like magic, New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap enjoyed major success with his smash hit "Trap Queen," a hip-hop trap balled dedicated to Fetty's ride or die.

As we get up for Valentine's and that special someone, XXL rounds up 18 romantic videos to get the mood right for the day of the lovers.
