For Vice's new "Viceland" channel, Noisey traveled to Compton, California to get a look at Kendrick Lamar's roots and how his music is making the gang members he grew up around rethink their lives. In the first of Bompton's six segments, Vice's Zach Goldbaum sits down with K. Dot for an interview, visits his old high school and gets a tour of the neighborhood from local Blood Gang members. The clip is a raw look at the environment that raised Kendrick and shows how bleak the future is for a lot of young kids who grow up in the city.

"If I was you and I had a camera right now, where I would go is a little city called Bompton," Snoop Dogg tells the camera at the beginning of the clip. "It's Compton, but it's where the Bloods is at. Because they put a B in front of anything so it's Bompton."

During the first part of the Bompton doc, it's revealed that Kendrick made a nice donation to his alma mater Centennial High School but kept it under tight wraps.

"Noisey Bompton" will premiere on Viceland on Monday, Feb. 29 at 10 P.M. Along with "Noisey," Viceland will also air shows, clips and series focused on niche and mainstream cultures from around the world. The Wire's Michael K. Williams will star in "Black Market," a look at the gritty underworld of car hijackers. Actress Ellen Page will travel around the world to discover how the LGBT community is treated in "Gaycation." Action Bronson will continue his popular "Fuck, That's Delicious" series and chef/writer Eddie Huang will star in "Huang's World." For more information, check out Viceland's website.
