Kehlani and Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving confirmed their relationship in January and in a recent interview in the debut issue of ILY, the Oakland singer can't help but gush about their romance. While she didn't go as far as saying that she is in love with Irving, Kehlani is clearly very happy with the NBA star.

"Am I in love? No, no, no, no, no. [Laughs] It’s very early," she said. "He definitely makes me very happy. I’ve taken it day by day, and enjoying every little bit. I think I’m trying not to get too excited or get too crazy about the hype of everything...I’m just trying to be regular and grow with him as a human. Very regular and very human."

As celebrities, being in a public relationship can be tough. But the two seem to be on the same page when it comes to communication. "When in the limelight, and especially when it’s another person that’s in the limelight, it can get complicated real fast because not every relationship has millions of people tuning in or commenting every day," she said. "You have to make sure everything is communicated and solid, and that you’re happy, most of all."

The singer admitted that she is completely comfortable around the former All-Star Game MVP and this is the first time she has been in a relationship where she can let loose. "I think this is the first time that I’ve ever been able to really be myself at all times. In the sense of being incredibly goofy with someone and being based on a best friendship. It was a friendship before anything, and it gradually became something. I’m definitely learning how to be super goofy and just enjoy it."

Kehlani was asked how her love life will impact her music and she confirmed that there will be carryover from her private life to her public art. "Being in a situation that finally feels right will be shown in my music. It’s funny, every time at the start of a relationship, I’ve always been able to find problems, but I haven’t found any problems over here. It’s off to a very awesome start. You can tell how happy I am in my new stuff. I’m happy, and he’s blushing on FaceTime. [Laughs]" (Irving was on FaceTime with Kehlani throughout the interview).

Irving was first to make the relationship public, posting a picture of the two on Instagram following a 95-85 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. "Nothing else really matters when I'm with you...," he wrote in the caption. "And that's when I knew I had someone special...as sappy as they come lol."
