Today (Feb. 5), Jay Z's streaming music service Tidal announced that it will be donating $1.5 million to the Black Lives Matter movement. This donation will also go to organizations are aligned with the Black Lives Matter message.

The announcement took place today to coincide with what would have been the 21st birthday of Trayvon Martin. Martin was the black teenager who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in February 2012.

The massive amount of money being donated was raised during a star-studded charity concert known as the Tidal X 10:20 Festival that took placed this past October. The concert featured a stacked lineup of artists as Jay Z, Beyoncé, Nas, Lil Wayne Nicki Minaj, T.I., Rick Ross, Usher, Pusha T, French Montana, Travis Scott, Damian Marley, Nick Jonas, Meek Mill, Vic Mensa and Fabolous were among the performers at the concert. The event was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and was streamed live from start to finish on Tidal.

In their announcement, Tidal specified which organizations would be receiving money as part of the $1.5 million donation. The following organizations and causes were listed: Opportunity Agenda, Hands Up United, Sankofa.Org, Community Coalition, Dream Defenders, Black Youth Project, Baltimore Justice Fund, Empowerment Development Corporation, Million Hoodies, NY Justice League, Ohio Students Association/Organizing Collaborative, the Trayvon Martin Foundation, the Michael O.D. Brown We Love Ours Sons and Daughters Foundation, and the Oscar Grant Foundation.
