The hip-hop community is mourning the death of DJ Big Kap this morning (Feb. 3).

Working closely with The Notorious B.I.G. throughout his career, Kap was involved in one of the more memorable Biggie stage shows, when the rapper tossed a water bottle at the DJ during a 1995 Summer Jam set. The day's heat kept warping the records, resulting in repeated errors in Kap's playback.

Additionally, Kap is remembered for his role in the 1999 album The Tunnel with DJ Funk Flex. Flex joined others in remembering the fallen legend via social media.

Talib Kweli revealed that he once carried records for Kap. "used to carry crates & pass out flyers for Big Kap parties RIP to the big homie sending love to @funkflex @Jrosenblum1 @john_forte @djenuff," he tweeted.

Cormega meanwhile shared a few memories on Twitter writing, "My 1st tour I shared tour bus with Big Kap and his congratulatory words after shows became inspirational confidence that I could do it. RIP" and later, "I'm in my feelings because I knew Kap and I know he deserved better and some people might not know how great a loss it it. Respect the Dj."

DJ Khaled, Pete Rock, Bun B and David Banner, to name a few, also share their sentiments on his death. XXL joins the hip-hop community in mourning the loss of DJ Big Kap and send prayers to his family and loved ones.
