Chicago rapper FiF Money was killed by police on Sunday (Jan. 31) during a home invasion that took place at the former home of Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose.

FiF Money, whose real name is Charles Smith, was killed during an exchange of gunshots with police, according to DNA Info. No officers were injured during the incident.

Police said they were responding to multiple calls of a "person with a gun" and "home invasion" early Sunday morning. Police arrived at the house on South Paulina Street in the Englewood area of the city, where Derrick Rose grew up, when an armed Smith began firing at them. Gunshots were exchanged until Smith was fatally shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:40 a.m.

According to the Chicago Tribune, prosecutors stated that Smith and his girlfriend Breanna Patterson broke into the home as they attempted to look for a man who robbed them. Smith allegedly pointed his gun at officers when police arrived to the scene, which resulted in the ensuing gunfire and fatal shot.

Breanna Patterson is now being charged with first degree murder and home invasion according to Chicago police. According to Illinois state law, anyone who commits a felony that results in death can be charged with that murder even if they are not the shooter.

DNA Info reports that was the first fatal shooting involving Chicago police this year. The shooting will be investigated by the Independent Police Review Authority.

FiF Money can been seen in the video for his song "Get in Line," which dropped in October.
