Wiz Khalifa's 2015 smash hit "See You Again" broke records and won awards. But one accolade it failed to garner was the 2016 Oscar for Best Song, and in fact wasn't even nominated. Wiz doesn't appear to be sweating it too much.

He recently sat down with Billboard, and discussed the snub. "I don't really get into the political stuff," he said when asked about the lack of a nomination by the Academy. "I know there's a lot to do with who does get nominated and who doesn't. It's not always just the music. I'm focused on the music, so I'm doing my part."

Though Wiz's song was left out of the Best Song nominations at the 2016 Oscars, which air Feb. 28, the Weeknd earned a nod in the category for his lauded track "Earned It," off the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. He'll compete against J. Ralph and Antony’s “Manta Ra” from Racing Extinction, Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall” from Spectre, Lady Gaga’s “Til it Happens to You” from The Hunting Ground and David Lang’s “Simple Song #3″ from Youth for the award.

"See You Again" has had its fair share of popularity on the charts and on the ‘net despite it failing to score an Oscar nod. Back in October, the video for the single became the first hip-hop song to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. This summer, it tied for the longest reign a hip-hop single has enjoyed atop the Billboard charts. At 12 weeks, it lasted as long as Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” and the Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow.”

Wiz also talked about the recently released single "Bake Sale," the collab with Travi$ Scott off his upcoming album Khalifa. "Travis is a friend of mine," said Wiz. "I've been wanting to work with him for a really long time. Before he became as popular as he is, I've been aware of his talents and what he could bring to the table for somebody like myself who writes. Us being young and having the same energy and some of the same inspirations, and a lot of the same crowd it really just made sense."

Check out the tracklist for Wiz's album, which drops on Feb. 5.
