Rapsody stopped by the NPR offices recently to participate in their "Tiny Desk" concert series, and performed three songs off her EP Beauty and the Beast. The North Carolina rapper was joined by 9th Wonder as she bops and dabs to "Godzilla" and performs a touching rendition of "The Man" for fatherless black children who took on adult responsibility and the fathers who have raised their sons so they wouldn't need to. She closes out the personal set with "Hard to Choose" about her difficulties in the music industry as a black female and repeatedly shouts out the Howard University students in the room.

Rapsody is coming off a year that saw her score a major win as the lone rap feature on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly, with a verse on "Complexion (A Zulu Love)." The verse had such an impact in fact that it landed on XXL's list of 15 Best Rap Verses of 2015. Following the release of Kendrick's album, Rapsody noted that the Compton rapper had the same energy as Lauryn Hill, one of the female MC's she names above before "Hard to Choose."

Check Rapsody's performance above, where she's backed by sax, keys and bass, and download Beauty and the Beast here. The project features three songs produced by 9th Wonder, among them, "Godzilla" and "Hard to Choose." As for more recent music, Rapsody was featured on Big K.R.I.T.'s "Guillotine Flow" produced by, again, 9th Wonder.
