Kendrick Lamar has said that he might retire the songs from his blockbuster sophomore album, To Pimp a Butterfly, after his current string of live dates. If that proves to be true, his appearance on Austin City Limits is all the more special. This Saturday (Jan. 9), the Compton rapper will appear on the long-running concert series; his performance of "Alright" has already been released as promotion. Today, we get to see Kendrick play "Wesley's Theory" and "Hood Politics." Update (Jam. 11, 11:37 a.m.): Full set video is now live. Watch above.

Both songs appear alongside "Alright" on To Pimp a Butterfly, the record Lamar released to considerable fanfare last March. After his universally lauded major label debut, 2012's good kid, m.A.A.d. city, the MC took a hard left and made a sprawling LP that explores ideas of race and culture in America, and owes musical debuts to funk, jazz, p-funk and a variety of other genres.

The XXL cover star recently dropped a short film called "God Is Gangsta," which serves as the de facto music video for "u" and "For Sale?," also taken from Butterfly. The album was preceded by the Isley Brothers-sampling single "i" and by "The Blacker the Berry," a militantly political track that features the dancehall star Assassin.

Lamar was recently cited by Diddy as the inspiration for re-releasing his 2015 mixtape, MMM, as a proper album. The New York mogul pointed out that Butterfly was initially made available for free on the iTunes store, only to sell well upon its proper release.
