Wiz Khalifa was missing in action at the 2016 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night (Jan. 6) despite his Favorite Hip-Hop Artist nomination but his presence was certainly felt when Vin Diesel showed love to his lauded track "See You Again" during his acceptance speech.

The actor graced the stage to accept the awards for Favorite Action Movie and Favorite Movie for Furious 7. During his speech, Diesel gave a nod to his fallen friend and fellow Fast and the Furious cast member Paul Walker, who died in a car accident in 2013.

"You know, as I was coming up here, I always do this. I say I’m not going to get emotional about, you know, winning these awards, and I was cool when I was sitting in my seat, and then they handed me two awards: one for favorite action movie and one for favorite film," the 48-year-old shared. "You all thought that this was your favorite film. I think of Dom and Brian and I start to think of Paul. They said to make this short and sweet, so I will try to make this short and sweet. It was a labor of love."

"My only message to you is you’d be amazed what you can do with love. You’d be amazed at how powerful a force that is. When we didn’t want to come back to filming when the tragedy was too heavy, it was the love of everyone combined that saw us through to the end."

Before he left the stage, Diesel sang Wiz Khalifa's “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth as a tribute to Walker and thanked supporters of the film franchise. “I want to thank the People’s Choice Awards. It’s real people that are voting for these awards. It’s just pure fans saying how much they appreciate our work, and that means the world to me. And I thank you so much and the only thing I can say now, ‘It’s been a long day without you, my friend, and I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again.'”

Since the release of "See You Again" last year, Wiz has received nothing but accolades for the track. The rapper has earned both a Golden Globe nomination and Grammy nod in addition to YouTube naming it the top video of 2015 -- the visual has 1.3 billion views and counting.

The song also earned a People's Choice Award nomination for Favorite Song.
