T.I.’s Grandfather Passes Away

T.I. shared some sad news on Instagram Tuesday (Jan. 5), posting two photos to mark the passing and burial of his grandfather, Robert Morgan, a man he refers to in both photos with the hashtag “RIPDADDY.”

The rapper's actual father passed away when he was just 17 after losing a battle with Alzheimer's. T.I. was then primarily raised by his mother and grandparents, which explains the paternal reference used in both photos.

In the captions for the photos, T.I. remembers his grandfather with heartfelt words, writing, "We'll NEVER FORGET what y'all did for US!!!! 55yrs on Bankhead formed BONDS that will NEVER BE BROKEN!!!! #RIPDADDY #RIPMOTHER WE LOVE 7 MISS YOU BOTH!!!!" T.I.'s grandmother had passed in 2009, before the rapper went to prison on weapons charges. The second caption reads, "We laid down a real stand up GUY today!!!! Not many men have raised as many Real Ones as He DID!!!!! #RIPDADDY."

Last week, he revealed Morgan's passing in another touching Instagram post. "I know u my Granddaddy but all da time we spent together make me feel like I'm your third son," he wrote.

There has been no indication as to the cause of death. All condolences are with T.I. and the Harris family as they mourn their loss.

The news of the passing comes weeks after it was announced that T.I. and wife Tiny are expecting another child. The child will be the couple's third together. Tiny revealed the pregnancy via Instagram around Christmas time, saying in a video, "Most of all, thank you for my new heir to the throne, the best Christmas gift he could have gave me ever."
