Roc-A-Fella Co-Founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke Makes His First Appearance Since Being Released From Prison

Kareem "Biggs" Burke was reportedly released from jail all the way back in November 2015. The quiet release flew under the radar until this weekend when Biggs made his first public appearance during a clothing event in New York City since getting out of prison. The clothing company holding the event was Fourth of November Brand, a Brooklyn-based custom jean manufacturing company, which a homage to denim. Cam'ron, Pusha T, and DJ Clark Kent were all in attendance. Back in 2012, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder pled guilty for a single count of conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana. Burke was sentenced to five years in federal prison for being apart of a massive pot trafficking ring. He was one of more than 50 people arrested in late 2010 for their connection to a marijuana trafficking ring that distributed drugs from South Florida to New York. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security and the Drug Enforcement Administration along with police agencies in New Jersey, New York, Florida, Maryland and North Carolina investigated the drug ring from 18 month (the investigation was called “Operation Green Venom”). Authorities seized nearly $2 million and more than 260 pounds of marijuana during the bust. The then-38-year-old rap mogul was forced to  to forfeit $660,000, his residence, $15,000 in cash that was seized from his home when he was arrested last year, and his 2010 BMW.

Burke started Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z and Damon Dash in the 1990s. The trio parted ways in 2004.
