Martin Shkreli Considers Destroying Wu-Tang’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Shaolin’ Album

Martin Shkreli is quickly becoming public enemy number one and his next move could put him in even more hot water with the hip-hop community. The reviled pharmaceutical entrepreneur, who purchased Wu-Tang Clan's mysterious Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, is now threatening to destroy the album altogether.

In a profile conducted by Vice, Shkreli discussed his mounting legal troubles and gave a glimpse into his lifestyle, but one tidbit that was taken away from the write-up was Shkreli's desire to obliterate the album that he purchased for $2 million. Here's what Vice's Allie Conti wrote:

"With the Wu-Tang album playing in the background. Shkreli says he vacillates between wanting to destroy the record and dreaming of installing it in some remote place so that people have to make a spiritual quest to listen. 'I'm not just the heel of the music world,' he says. 'I want to be the world's heel.'"

And Shkreli can consider his mission accomplished as he is one of the most despised public figures of today. He initially came under fire after his company, Turing Pharmaceuticals, acquired the rights to Daraprim and spiked up the price from $13.50 to $750 a pill without notice. Daraprim is a drug used to treat a parasitic disease called toxoplasmosis that sometimes afflicts AIDS and cancer patients and pregnant women.

After becoming aware of Shkreli's greedy maneuver, the HIV Medicine Association sent a letter to Turing, which included the statement, "This cost is unjustifiable for the medically vulnerable patient population in need of this medication and unsustainable for the health care system."

Shkreli's actions have also drawn the ire of Ghostface Killah, who had a few unkind words to say about the Once Upon a Time in Shalin owner and has engaged in a war of words with him over the past week. It's anyone's guess what will become of the mythical album or if it will ever see the light of day.
