King Louie is blessed to even be able to see 2016. After being shot multiple times in his hometown of Chicago a few days before Christmas, including a bullet to the head, the Windy City rapper is making a rapid recovery. During a recent sit-down with Revolt, King L talked about the frantic moment when the bullets started flying and says he partially owes him still being here to the OVO tattoo on his head.

"I just felt the shots hit me, it didn't hurt or nothing, I just felt them," Louie said recounting the scary moment. "After one hit me in my ear, I was like, Damn, I'm hit in my head. I was finna give up for a while. But everyone, my family and friends, flashed, and I thought about how many people I would hurt if I were to give up and don't fight."

He credits his OVO tattoo with being his figurative guardian angel in the shooting. "The owl saved my life, though," said the Chi-Town rapper pointing to the spot in front of his ear where he has a tatt of Aubrey's label mascot. "If it had hit me where the owl was I would have died probably." He later added, "I told Drake that on [Instagram]. Like, 'bruh, the owl saved my life.'"

In December 2014, KL got two Drake related tattoos, including the owl and Drizzy's now famous "6 praying hands" art. Though the ink sparked rumors that Louie had or would sign to OVO Sound, nothing ever materialized. But Louie later credited Drake with putting his music on a bigger stage.

After spending Christmas in the hospital, King Louie is now well on his way to a full recovery, though the shooting left him with two broken ribs, two bullets lodged in his chest and a bullet in his head.
