Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd to Perform at 2016 Grammy Awards

With the Grammy Awards less than a month away, the first round of performers has been announced and it comes as no surprise that Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd, each heavily nominated at this year's ceremony, are among them. The two are up for a combined 16 awards, facing off in just one category, the top prize, Album of the Year.

While there is no word yet as to what each artist will perform, good money is on the songs each had nominated. Kendrick Lamar is up for Song of the Year for "Alright," while The Weeknd can take home Record of the Year for "Can't Feel My Face."

The 2016 Grammy's mark a moment of arrival for Kendrick Lamar, who leads all nominations with 11. Lamar was notably overlooked for his 2012 album good kid m.A.A.d. city, as the Awards named Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' The Heist the Best Rap Album of the Year. He is widely believed to take home Best Rap Album this year, as his To Pimp a Butterfly has been recognized for the evening's top prize as well.

The 58th annual Grammy Awards will air on Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. EST with host LL Cool J, who has hosted the show for five years running. Additional performers will be announced in the coming days. Last week, The Weeknd was nominated for an Academy Award for "Earned It," which he lent to Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
