There were a lot of people pissed when the 2016 Academy Award nominations were announced. That's because, for the second year in a row, not a single Black actor was nominated for an award. The black-and-white facts (pun intended) of the lack of color clearly shows an issue with diversity. And K Camp is speaking out.

The Atlanta rapper recently recorded a video of himself, obtained by TMZ, expressing his frustrations on the matter. "I aint gon' sit here and play the race card, because I aint gon' call it a racist issue. But us as a Black culture we know what we are getting ourselves into when we get into that other side of the industry," he says in the clip. "We got to put in 110 times more work and it still don't get recognized."

Camp's biggest issue seemed to be with Straight Outta Compton, the record-breaking film that chronicled N.W.A which only received one nomination for Best Screen Play. "Straight Outta Compton was a great movie. One of the best hip-hop movies I done seen since I been on Earth," he says. Adding, "Somebody has to break that barrier. It's gone come a time where the work is getting recognized properly."

Almost universally loved, Straight Outta Compton has grossed close to $200 million at the box office making it the highest grossing music biopic and the highest grossing film directed by a Black director in the U.S.

K Camp, a 2015 XXL Freshman dropped his debut album Only Way is Up last September.
