Even without dropping an album, J. Cole had an amazing 2015 which mostly was spent rocking shows on tour. How amazing was it? Fans got a chance to see as Cole’s Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming Concert documentary made its television premiere on HBO, Saturday night (Jan. 9).

Announced back in December, the show was a culmination of a four-part mini series that has been released in the weeks leading up to the big show.

The 80-minute video documents the 2015 Forest Hills Drive Tour more specifically the huge finale that capped off the tour in Cole's hometown of Charlotte, NC, where he brought out acts like Jay-Z, Drake and Big Sean. On top of the entire performance, the short-film features exclusive backstage access and J. Cole’s life story through his music and words from Cole’s family and friends (above).

You can catch the four Road to Homecoming videos that preceded the documentary, H E R E.

While Cole spent most of the year touring in promotion of his platinum-selling third-studio album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, he's looking to get 2016 popping. In December, he released The Revenge of the Dreamers 2 mixtape. He also signed two new artists to his record label Dreamville in Lute and Ari Lennox. Lute is a rapper from Charlotte. Lennox is a soul singer from Washington D.C. The two artists join Omen, Bas and Cozz on the label Cole founded in 2007.
