Bandman Kevo Pleads Guilty to Credit Card Fraud

Chicago rapper Bandman Kevo will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. According to the Chicago Tribune, the 27-year-old and his co-defendant Cortez Stevens filed plea agreements on Tuesday, Jan. 5. The two men will pay $149,919 in restitution and have already forfeited a 2004 Audi and a 2006 Maserati to authorities. They could end up serving 30 years in prison for the crime.

Last year, the rapper was arrested and charged after a federal complaint alleged that he participated in a bank fraud scheme stretching across the several states. According to the original affidavit, Kevo and 28 other men stole $640,000 by recruiting bank customers via social media to share their debit card information for a portion of the profits. The men then deposited counterfeit checks into the accounts and withdrew money from ATM's. When he was arrested, officials requested a "no-knock" arrest authority for the MC because he posted a statement on his Facebook account stating his desire to kill law enforcement officers.

In an interview with AllHipHop last year, the rapper felt that he was being targeted by the authorities due to his career and status. "I knew from the state case that the FBI was following me from court. I told my lawyer that the FBI’s been following me. They see the career taking off, so they’re trying to slow it down. But they didn’t really do nothing but pick it up."
