Pusha T Says Kanye West’s ‘Swish’ Album Is Phenomenal

Pusha T is a busy man. After announcing that he's releasing Darkest Before Dawn—the prelude to his highly anticipated King Push LP—on Dec. 18. and becoming the President of G.O.O.D. Music, it was fitting that he would declare himself “the last rap superhero.” In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Push aided Kanye West's fans with an update on 'Ye's new album Swish. 

"I haven’t worked on it at all, but everything I’ve heard is phenomenal and it has nothing to do with any of the other records that were released before," he said. "That’s all I can really say about it. He’s super meticulous about the messaging about his album but you guys are in for a treat." The other records he's referencing are tracks that came out during this year like “All Day” and “Only One.”

On his new duties as President of G.O.O.D. Music, the 38-year-old gave an insight to his day-to-day obligations. "I’m responsible for overseeing releases, rollouts and pretty much everything else that’s fan-oriented — bringing the business full circle, whether it’s merch and things as a collective that we can do with touring," he said.

As for the sequel to 2012’s Cruel Summer, the new G.O.O.D. boss hasn’t forgotten about it. “That’s definitely on my mood board. I’m totally on that and I’m going to make that happen. That is a goal of mine and I reach my goals.”

As fans salivate for new material from Pusha T, the Virginia native gave some exciting news on how the music he's creating now is different from his last album My Name Is My Name.

"In regards to the sound, I feel like My Name Is My Name is a bit more lighthearted than what I just created," Pusha said. "I sat with Timbaland, I sat with Kanye, I sat with Sean Combs, Boi-1da, Nashiem Myrick, Mario Winans, Baauer, Mano and got from each of them the darkest part of their souls on these beats, and it marries everything I’m doing right now lyrically."

The latest music Pusha T released was "Untouchable" last month.
