Production Begins on Tupac Biopic

After a multimillion dollar lawsuit and multiple director changes, it appears the long awaited Tupac biopic, All Eyez On Me, has finally begun production. And not a moment too soon either. A previous lawsuit with Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur stipulated that the film could gain the rights to Tupac's music only if it began production within the calendar year, which is about two weeks from expiring.

News of production comes by way of Instagram, as L.T. Hutton posted a series of collaged photos revealing, among other things, production meetings and branded chairs. According to Uproxx, Hutton is a music producer and former A&R at Ruthless and Interscope Records. His Program Pictures is working alongside Morgan Creek Films to produce the biopic.

Further information comes by way of Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who similarly took to Instagram to post some behind the scene images. Among them is an embrace shared by the actors set to play Tupac and Jada Pinkett. "Been a long Process but I'm proud to announce Its finally tim to present the Tupac Movie !!" Jackson captioned his photo. Jackson is also attached to the film in a producer's capacity as well.

As recently as last month, the film was without a director after Carl Franklin, John Singleton and Antoine Fuqua all departed the project. Singleton even posted on Instagram, saying that “The people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac.” The film did land on frequent music video director Benny Boom to helm the project, which, based on the posted photos, has all parties involved excited to be underway.
