Swagg Huncho, a local St. Louis rapper, was shot and killed Sunday morning (Dec. 13). Swagg Huncho was just 18 years old. The rapper was a member of the group 3 Problems, which had gained buzz locally and was profiled by Rolling Stone earlier this year. Swagg Huncho, whose real name is James Johnson Jr., was found dead shortly after 10 a.m. in St. Louis’ JeffVanderLou neighborhood.

Johnson, pictured above with his fellow 3 Problems members in their “For a Fckn—a” music video, was shot at least twice in the head by an unknown killer according to local authorities. Johnson was from Ferguson, MO. which was vaulted into the national conversation following the Aug. 2014 shooting of Michael Brown by officer Darren Wilson.

Johnson’s death is another sad incident surrounding the group 3 Problems. Group member Relly Rell, real name Terrell Brown Jr., plead guilty to second-degree murder charge earlier this year. Now, the group has lost one of its members to gun violence.

James Clark, the Vice President of Community Outreach for Better Family Life, told KMOV St. Louis that Johnson had contacted the social service organization and wanted to get involved in their “We Must Stop Killing Each Other” campaign.

“The rappers now have to look in the mirror and say, ‘hey guys, we are losing too many loved ones and family members. We are losing our friends,'” said Clark.
