J. Cole's Forest Hills Drive tour was a resounding success by all accounts and the North Carolina native capped it off with a huge show in his hometown of Fayetteville. The event saw J. Cole performing at the Crown Coliseum and bringing out some major guests like Jay Z and Drake. The show also featured regular acts from the tour including YG, Big Sean, Jeremih and members of J. Cole's Dreamville Records imprint. J. Cole's hometown crowd was the only the audience to experience this event, until now.

HBO has announced that they will air a program called Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming Concert on Jan. 9 at 10pm EST. The 90-minute broadcast will feature J. Cole's entire performance of his platinum selling album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, exclusive backstage access, J. Cole's life story through his music and words from Cole's family and friends.

Having an HBO special is obviously a major coup for the resume of J. Cole. Fans last heard from the Carolina MC as part of an "exchange series" with Kendrick Lamar dubbed Black Friday. The two rappers, long rumored to be making a collaborative album, essentially traded instrumentals as Cole rapped over Lamar's "Alright" and Lamar rapped over Cole's "Tale of 2 Cities."
