The hoverboard otherwise known as the balance board, is the must-have item for a lot of people this holiday season. But with different companies replicating the hoverboards in their own way, the quality of the product has dipped and now certain brands are in major trouble due to the poor quality and malfunction of the product.

The latest brand to receive negative backlash for its quality is Swagway, a brand that is now being sued by a man in New York who claims the self-balancing electric scooter he bought for his children, burst into flames and damaged his home. The Indiana-based Swagway, which retails for $399, burst into flames after Michel Brown plugged the electronic device burst into flames after it was plugged into an outlet for 45 minutes. Fortunately, no injuries occurred after the explosion, but the damage could’ve been deadly. With Amazon, Traget and other online retailers starting to pull different brands of hoverboards from their stock lists, due to poor quality and safety hazards, online retailers have joined the different airlines who have banned the two-wheel device.

If you're looking to purchase a hoverboard over the holiday season, we strongly suggest you do research on the two-wheel device you're looking to purchase before you make the mistake of buying a generic board that can possibly end up damaged after a few days of usage.
