A grand jury has ruled not to indict the Cleveland police officer who fatally shot Tamir Rice, an unarmed 12-year-old Black boy, in November of 2014. The ruling not to indict Officer Timothy Loehmann for the killing came today (Dec. 28) and is the latest in a slew of police brutality cases grabbing headlines.

Tamir was playing with a toy pellet gun in a Cleveland park when Loehmann and his partner, alleging that the boy looked like an adult and with a real weapon, shot him from far range on Nov. 22, 2014. Loehman's partner, officer Frank Garmback, will not be charged in the death either.

Tamir's death at the hands of police, along with the deaths of Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, Eric Garner and Sandra Bland, has become a battle cry for members of the Black Lives Matter protests. Members of the hip-hop community are beginning to voice their disappointment and outrage for the Tamir Rice ruling on social media.
