London--that's the one in Ontario, not the seat of British power--is about 200 kilometers West of Toronto on the 401. Two hours if traffic isn't too bad. Considering the proximity, it's only natural that the respective cities' most famous offspring, who are currently two of the biggest pop stars in the world, would forge some sort of friendship. And that's exactly what's happened with Justin Bieber and Drake: there is a brief but colorful history of moments between the singer and the rapper, yet none were designed to send the rumor mill into overdrive like their latest. Last night (Dec. 1), Bieber posted a picture of himself sitting on an ATV behind Selena Gomez, the actress and pop star to whom he was linked before a very public split.

The picture caused a firestorm, as it was bound to, and Bieber quickly edited the caption to say, "Just a throwback calm down." That was when Drake swooped in with a comment from his @champagnepapi account, saying, "Damn thought this was a current day Jelena flick," followed by what experts agree is the saddest of those little face emojis. That, and the Canadian flag.

Maybe it really is just a callback to good times with an old friend--or maybe, just maybe, it's a premeditated bit of publicity. The world, and Drake, can only hope.
