Chief Keef’s Associates Sued by FilmOn

Chief Keef and FilmOn Entertainment, the label that signed him, don't seem destined for any holiday merry-making in the coming days. Based on documents obtained by HipHopsRevival, FilmOn has filed a $4 million lawsuit against Keef's associates for violating the all-inclusive seven-year deal the rapper signed with them.

Apparently, all music and business that Keef does needs be done through the label, and for his recent releases Finally Rollin 2 and Nobody Part 2, that wasn't the case. As a result, FilmOn has sued those involved in the projects, who they believe influenced Keef to break the deal. The complaints include, induced breach of contract, intentional interference with contractual relations, civil conspiracy, conversion, accounting and injunctive relief.

It's not clear whether Keef had intentionally breached the contract or was unknowing, but the terms of the deal, as outlined in the above video are pretty straightforward. FilmOn is to handle all of Keef's music, touring and merchandise as well as collect all money earned by the rapper. Keef's associates named in the lawsuit include, his manager Peeda Pan, producers Zaytoven, Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital, DJ Holiday, and other well known companies.

Also in the above video, DJ Akademiks quotes FilmOn owner David Alki of saying the following with regard to the mixtapes released without them, "We removed it. Just because were independent it doesn’t mean you could fuck with us. We do Keef’s business."

We will continue to update this story as news develops, and it seems there's plenty to work out between Chief Keef, his label and the those named in the lawsuit.
