2015 has been chock-full of great rap releases and Virginia's favorite trapper Pusha T is back with one of his own, Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude. Released at midnight (Dec. 18), the album comes more than two years from his solo debut, My Name Is My Name, and finds the rapper leaping from highly regarded lyricist to King Push.

And for all intents and purposes, Darkest Before Dawn gets the job done. Consisting of 10 tracks, the project contains superb bars galore that will take you more than one listen to fully grasp. Featuring production from the likes of Pharrell, Timbaland, Diddy and J. Cole, Pusha's vivid storytelling receives the proper backing thanks to these guys.

Always known as a capable rhymer, Pusha has evolved in his craft even further and seems to have cultivated his penmanship in terms of crafting songs while still giving off the sense that the best is yet to come. As soon as the album's intro hits your eardrums, you know you're about to get hit over the head with quotables. However, the further you get into the LP, selections like "M.F.T.R" and "M.P.A." prove that Darkest Before Dawn is the perfect hodgepodge of style and substance. Add in highlights such as "Keep Dealing" and "F.I.F.A.," and the LP is an undeniable listen.
