A$AP Rocky and Joey Bada$$ to Headline Yams Day Concert

A$AP Rocky and Joey Bada$$ will headline a concert to honor the life of the late Steven "A$AP Yams" Rodriguez.

The tribute concert, dubbed Yams Day, will take place on Jan. 18 at New York's Terminal 5. The show will also include performances by the A$AP Mob, Lil Uzi Vert and some yet to be named special guests. Tickets go on sale this Friday (Dec. 18).

The concert is scheduled to take place on the anniversary of A$AP Yams' death. Yams was the founder of the Harlem collective A$AP Mob and quickly became one of the major tastemakers in the hip-hop landscape. This past January, Yams was found unconscious by his roommate and transported to Brooklyn’s Woodhull Medical Center where he was eventually pronounced dead. Yams was just 26 years old.

Yams' cause of death was later revealed to be caused by an overdose. New York City Chief Medical Examiner determined that Yams died of "an acute mixed drug intoxication" including opiates and benzodiazepine.

Before his death, Yams was working on an album. In an interview with Charlie Sloth on BBC Radio, A$AP Rocky said that he would complete the album.

“Yams started an album before he passed and he left all his notebooks and blueprints,” A$AP Rocky said. “I’m just picking up where he left off. Me and him were going to do the album together. He was working on a crazy album. I’m letting people know, if I’m doing something good, the next thing I do will have to be great.”
