Vic Mensa Joins Protesters Following Police Killing Of Laquan McDonald

Vic Mensa took the streets with fellow Chcagoans Tuesday night following the release of a video that show police officer Jason Van Dyke shooting and killing 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. McDonald was killed in October of 2014 after he was shot 16 times. Van Dyke was charged Tuesday for first degree murder and is being held without bond.

While Chicago mayor Rahm Emmanuel has called for peace, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy recognized that residents "have a right to be angry." Mensa was caught on camera saying, "We out in downtown Chicago right now. I just got hands put on me by police. We want justice for Laquan and we want justice for our people."  A video released later by CBS News (also below) appears to show the incident Mensa referred to as police and protesters exchanged shoves.

Chance the Rapper voiced his support for his city over Twitter, saying that he would be back to Chicago in two days.
