If you missed last night's (Nov. 19) Warriors-Clippers game from Los Angeles, you're going to be cut out of a lot of water cooler conversations for the next few weeks. It looked for a while like the Clips were going to topple the 12-0 Warriors--at one point in the second quarter, Golden State trailed 50-27. And yet despite that--and despite Chris Paul's 35 points--the champs stormed back to win 124-117, extending their season-opening unbeaten streak to 13. And while Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes and Klay Thompson came through with 19, 21 and 25 points, respectively, it was reigning MVP Steph Curry's 40 points and 11 rebounds that sealed the deal. All of which led Kenny Smith to make one of the more out-of-the-box comparisons of the season.

During TNT's post-game panel, Smith noted that while Jay Z was in attendance at Staples Center, Steph reminded him of another branch of hip-hop. "I just thought of it as I looked over at Shaq," he said. "Shaq's gonna appreciate this. You look at Chris Paul, and you look at Steph Curry. And you see two guys who have that look of innocence. These guys are what I would call battle rappers. They have that 'I'm going at you mentality.'" He went on to list the battle rappers reminiscent of curry--first and foremost being Murda Mook, the Harlem native who parlayed his battle success into a Ruff Ryders deal. Smith went on: "Steph Curry is a battle rapper. He is not your studio rapper--he's coming in guns blazing, and he's talking about it as he's doing it. And that is not that innocent guy that we see every day." Watch the video up above, courtesy of a Youtube user named slim Large.
